Before You Travel

Before setting off for Zanzibar, we recommend checking that you have everything you need for a stress-free journey.

Please ensure you have:

A valid passport with sufficient validity for your trip.

Any required visa or travel authorisation.

Comprehensive travel insurance.

Flight confirmations.

Accommodation confirmation.

Copies of important travel documents.

Details of your airport transfer, if booked.

Arriving in Zanzibar

Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) is the island's main gateway and is served by international and domestic airlines.

Once you've collected your luggage and cleared immigration, your private driver will be waiting in the arrivals area if you've arranged an airport transfer through us.

If you haven't yet booked transport, our concierge team will be happy to arrange it before your arrival.

Currency & Payments

The official currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS).

Many hotels, restaurants and tourism businesses also accept major credit and debit cards, although cash is still useful when visiting smaller shops, local markets or more remote areas.

ATMs are available in many towns, but we recommend carrying some local currency for convenience.

Health & Wellbeing

We recommend consulting your healthcare provider before travelling to discuss any vaccinations or health precautions that may be appropriate for your trip.

Remember to bring:

Any prescription medication

Basic first-aid essentials

Travel insurance documents

Copies of important medical information if required

Should you need medical assistance during your stay, we're happy to help arrange access to local healthcare providers.

Respecting Local Culture

Zanzibar is known for its warm hospitality and rich Swahili heritage.

Visitors are encouraged to respect local customs, particularly when visiting villages, markets, Stone Town and places of worship.

Simple gestures such as dressing modestly away from beach areas and asking permission before photographing people are always appreciated.

Experiencing local culture respectfully helps preserve the island's unique character and creates meaningful connections with the community.
